OATMEAL BREAD | |
2 pkgs. yeast 2 1/2 tsp. salt 6 tbsp. buttermilk powder 1/4 c. shortening 1/3 c. honey or molasses 1 egg 1 1/2 c. quick oats 4 1/2-5 c. flour 2 c. hot water Mix yeast, salt, buttermilk powder, shortening, honey, egg and 2 1/2 cups flour in large bowl. Add the hot water to mix and blend at low speed until moist. Beat 3 minutes at medium speed. Stir in oatmeal and rest of flour. Knead until smooth. Place in greased bowl. Cover and raise. Punch down; let rest for 10 minutes. Shape into 2 loaves and raise again. Bake at 375 degrees for 40-45 minutes. |
