PEAR COBBLER DELIGHT 
1/2 c. butter Crisco
1 c. (light) self-rising flour
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. milk
2 to 3 c. (thinly sliced) pears

Pears may be tenderized about 2 minutes prior to using reserving the liquid.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Put butter in 9 x 13 oven-proof serving dish and place in oven to melt. Mix together flour, sugar and flavoring. Stir in milk to make a batter. Remove hot dish with melted butter from oven and pour in batter. Spoon pears and juices evenly over the batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes until batter rises over the fruit and is browned. Serves 6 to 8.
