PEANUT BUTTER CRISS CROSSES 
1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. peanut butter
3 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Thoroughly cream shortening, eggs, sugar and vanilla. Stir in peanut butter; sift dry ingredients. Stir into cream mixture. Drop by rounded teaspoons on ungreased cookie sheet. Press with back of floured fork to make criss crosses. Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen cookies. For richer cookies, use 2 cups flour.
