JUGGED BEEF WITH ORANGE 
3 onions, sliced or chopped
1 1/2 lbs. stewing beef
1/2 lb. mushrooms
1/2 pt. beer, white wine, or cider
Flour
Salt
Pepper
Fresh or dried thyme
2 bay leaves
3 strips orange peel
1 clove garlic

Brown onions and meat in a little fat. Sprinkle on flour; add rest of ingredients. Stir well. Bring to a boiling point and transfer to a casserole. Cover and place in oven at its lowest setting and leave all night or all day. Serve with mashed potatoes.
