QUICK BREAD 
2 c. flour, sifted
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. col. solid shortening
1 egg
Milk

Sift dry ingredients into a bowl. Cut in shortening quickly until it crumbs. Break an egg into a cup and milk to make 1 cup. Mix well and then pour into crumbs. Stir up a bit and pour on a well floured board and mix 1 minute. Chill 15 minutes to 3 hours in refrigerator. Roll out and cut or pat into pan. Bake at 450 degrees for 15 minutes for biscuits or 25 minutes for shortcake.
