CHOCOLATE COOKIE CAKE AND
FROSTING
 
2 c. granulated sugar
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 sticks butter
1 c. water
3 tbsp. cocoa, slightly rounded
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. cinnamon

In mixing bowl combine sugar, flour and salt. In medium saucepan, bring to a boil the butter, water and cocoa. Pour over the flour mixture. Beat together the eggs, soda, buttermilk, vanilla and cinnamon until well blended. Add this to other mixture and blend well again. Pour into 11 x 17 inch sheet pan and cook for 20 minutes at 350 degrees.

FROSTING:

1 stick butter
6 tbsp. milk
3 tbsp. cocoa
1 box powdered sugar
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla

During last 5 minutes of baking cake, mix together and melt in saucepan (heat but do not boil) the butter, milk and cocoa. Add powdered sugar, vanilla and nuts. Stir well. Spread this on the cake as soon as it is out of oven. Very old recipe. Easy to make. Good with vanilla ice cream.
