JAIL HOUSE ROLLS 
1 1/2 c. warm water
2 pkg. dry yeast
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1/3 c. shortening
1 1/2 tsp. salt
4 c. flour

Mix all together thoroughly and let stand until double. Stir down and beat batter. Then with floured hands squeeze out egg size pieces and place in greased pan or glass dish. Let rise uncovered until doubled in size. Bake 10-15 minutes at 425 degrees.
