SUGARLESS OATMEAL COOKIES 
1/4 to 1/2 c. barley malt (sweetener)
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. hot water
2 c. oatmeal
1 c. raisins
1/2 c. nuts (optional)

Dissolve soda in hot water. Cream shortening with barley malt. Add vanilla and eggs. Mix well. Add flour, cinnamon and soda-water. Add oatmeal and raisins. May add more water or flour to change consistency. Drop by teaspoon on cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
