This was served to my children for 15 years after their first day of going back to school. 1 c. sugar 1 egg 1 tsp. vanilla 2 2/3 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1/2 c. sour cream

Cream shortening and sugar together. Add dry ingredients with the sour cream to the shortening mixture. Refrigerate for about 1 hour. Drop by the tablespoon on a greased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. When cooled frost 1/2 of the cookie with chocolate and the other half with vanilla frosting, then sit back and listen to what the children had to say and who their new teachers were.
