PICADILLO 
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef, brown & drain
1 med. - lg. onion, diced
1 bay leaf
Dash of oregano & garlic powder
3-4 tbsp. olive oil
Dash salt & black pepper to taste
1 tsp. sugar
2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce

In saucepan saute onion, bell pepper, oregano, garlic powder, olive oil, salt, black pepper and bay leaf. Add tomato sauce and 1 can water, add sugar and meat. Simmer on low until starts thickening. Take 1 large or 2 medium potatoes, cut in 1/2" to 1" chunks and deep fry. Drain. Add to meat mixture, let simmer to consistency desired. Add more salt to taste. I add a little Louisiana hot sauce. Serve over rice.
