LAYERED VEGETABLE SALAD 
1 sm. head lettuce, torn
1 lg. green pepper or red
1 med. white or red onion, finely chopped
3 stalks diagonally cut celery
1 c. shredded carrots
1 sm. can sliced water chestnuts
1 1/2 c. frozen peas
1 c. Miracle Whip
2 tbsp. sugar
1 c. grated Cheddar cheese
Bacon bits or slivered almonds

Blanch peas in boiling water 1 minute. Line bottom of glass bowl with lettuce. Layer vegetables separately in order. Spread the Miracle Whip as icing, sprinkle sugar over icing, then cheese and bacon. Refrigerate at least 6-8 hours.
