1 head of cabbage or 4 c.

Cook until tender crisp. Beat this into:

4 c. hot mashed potatoes

Then add:

1/2 c. finely chopped onions or scallions
1/4 c. cream
1/4 c. butter
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 c. grated sharp cheese (optional)

Place in casserole dish. Dot with butter and place six inches from broiler until golden brown.
