MEAT PASTRIES 
1 lb. ground beef, pork or veal
4 tbsp. butter
1 onion, grated
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. allspice
1 egg, beaten
1/4 c. sherry (optional)
1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese
2 tbsp. tomato paste
1/2 c. water
1/2 lb. filo
1/4 lb. butter

In large skillet, saute meat and onions in butter. Add salt, pepper, and allspice; stir well. Add remaining ingredients; stir over moderate heat for 10-15 minutes, or until liquid is absorbed.

Cut filo in 5 x 7 inch strips; brush each strips with butter as used. Place a tablespoon of meat mixture on pastry strip; fold in sides and roll in jelly roll fashion. Bake on ungreased baking pan at 375 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm. Makes 30.
