FRUITY LOAF CAKE 
1/3 c. shortening
1 c. brown or granulated sugar
1 1/2 c. raisins
1 1/4 c. water
2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. mace
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. chopped walnuts

Combine shortening, sugar, raisins and water; cook 3 minutes. Cool. Add sifted dry ingredients; mix thoroughly. Add vanilla and walnuts. Pour into waxed paper lined 9x5-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350°F for 1 hour.
