PINTO BEANS OR AS I CALL 'EM "RED BEANS" | |
2 c. dried beans 2-3 slices salt pork 2 tsp. bacon drippings 1/4 c. sugar Salt as needed Wash 2 cups of dry beans. Put in pan and cover with water 3 inches above beans. Put in slices of salt pork. Add bacon drippings. Boil about 3 1/2 - 4 hours medium heat (add water as needed). Season with salt (to taste). Add sugar. Cook until thickened. Serve with cornbread, mushy taters, fried salt pork, onion and iced tea. Fit for a king!! |
