RAISIN OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 c. raisins
1 c. water
3/4 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 c. liquid from raisins
2 c. rolled oats
1/2 c. nuts

Put raisins and water in saucepan and let simmer. Cream together shortening and granulated sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt, cinnamon and cloves; add to mixture. Add and beat in liquid from raisins. Mix and add rolled oats, simmered raisins and nuts. Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
