CHERRY BREAD 
1/2 c. shortening or butter
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs
Juice from 8 oz. jar maraschino cherries and buttermilk to make 1/2.
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. almond
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. pecans
8 oz. jar cherries, chopped

Cream shortening or butter and white sugar. Add eggs, cherry juice mixture, vanilla, almonds, and flour. Add baking powder and salt. Then add pecans and the cherries with a little flour sprinkled over them. Pour in well-greased loaf tin and bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes. Use large loaf tin.
