BLACKBERRY DUMPLINGS 
2 1/2 c. blackberries
1 c. water
1 c. all-purpose flour
2 tbsp. butter
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. lemon juice
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
1/4 tsp. salt

Bring blackberries, sugar (less 2 tablespoons), salt, and water to a boil then simmer 5 minutes and add lemon juice. Sift flour, baking powder, cinnamon and 2 tablespoons sugar together. Cut in butter, add milk until mixture dampened.

By the tablespoon, drop batter side-by-side into bubbling blackberry sauce. Cover tightly and simmer 10 minutes without opening pot. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream. (Other fruit may be substituted.)
