CHOCOLATE MINT BARS | |
4 squares unsweetened chocolate 2/3 c. shortening 2 c. brown sugar 3 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 1 1/4 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt FROSTING: 2 c. powdered sugar 2 tbsp. milk 1/2 c. butter 3/4 tsp. peppermint extract GLAZE: 2 squares semi-sweet chocolate 2 tbsp. butter Melt chocolate and shortening together. Add sugar, eggs and vanilla; blend well. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Bake in greased 9"x13" pan in 350 degree oven for 25 minutes. Cool. Cream together frosting ingredients. Frost bars and refrigerate for a short time. Melt chocolate and butter together for glaze. Spread over cold frosting. Cool until glaze hardens. Cut into bars. a Arlene Bates, Lab |
