1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour

Cream butter and sugar gradually, then well beaten eggs. Add milk and vanilla, then sift flour and soda together before adding. Drop by teaspoon on greased baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake at 400 degrees about 10-12 minutes.
