1 box cake mix (your choice; I use Duncan Hines moist deluxe-white)
1 pint blueberries
1 pint strawberries
1 can prepared frosting (optional; I use whipped vanilla)

Prepare cake batter according to box directions. Add the blueberries, washed and whole. Add cut up strawberries - you can use as many or as few as you like, but it works best with a lot!

Bake according to box temperature, but the cake will take longer than the box says to bake as the fruit adds moisture. I check every 5 minutes after the box baking time is up.

When finished the cake has a lovely layer of fruit on the bottom, topped by moist, fluffy cake!

Allow cake to cool before frosting, if desired.

Delicious! Also very festive for any patriotic holiday!
