1 pkg. dry yeast 3/4 c. warm water 1/2 tsp. baking powder 2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. cooking oil Dissolve yeast in water. Then add oil. In mixing bowl stir together flour, salt and baking powder. Add yeast mixture, stirring with fork until moistened. Turn out onto lightly floured surface, knead gently 15 to 20 strokes until dough forms a ball. divide dough into 12 portions and shape into balls. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes. Roll out 1 ball at a time to a 4 inch circle. Fry 1 circle at a time in deep hot fat (365 degrees). When dough rises to surface, spoon hot fat over until dough puffs. continue frying, turning once until golden. Can be filled with meat or honey. |
