SALMON PUFFS 
1 (7 3/4 oz.) can salmon, drained
1 egg, beaten
1/2 tsp. salt
Dash of pepper
2/3 c. all-purpose flour
1/3 c. plain cornmeal
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/3 c. buttermilk
Crisco oil

Combine all ingredients, except oil. Drop batter by tablespoonfuls into deep oil heated to 370 degrees. Cook until golden brown, turning once. Yield: 6 to 8 servings.
