Use approximately 14 ounces of either canned salmon or tuna, one egg, 1/2 cup flour and one heaping teaspoon baking powder. Drain the salmon or tuna reserving 1/4 cup liquid. Put the meat into a mixing bowl, break apart well with a fork, then add the flour and slightly beaten egg. Add pepper, if desired, mix well. Add the baking powder to the reserved liquid, then beat well with a fork until foamy. Pour this into the salmon mixture, then stir until blended.
Using two teaspoons scoop the mixture out with one spoon, with the other push the mixture into a deep fryer, half full of hot oil. Don't worry about the shapes. They're done practically instantly, so keep an eye on them. Remove from the oil as soon as they are brown. Drain on paper towels, serve and enjoy!
