LASAGNA FROM TONI'S GRANDMOTHER | |
1 lb. lasagna noodles 1 lb. ground beef or Italian sausage 1 lb. carton cottage cheese 1 (8 oz.) pkg. Mozzarella cheese 1 egg 1 qt. or more spaghetti sauce While noodles are cooking by package directions, brown meat in frying pan. In small bowl, combine cottage cheese and egg to soften it. When noodles are cooked, drain them and soak in cold water so they will be easier to handle and won't stick together. Spread a thin layer of spaghetti sauce in pan. Make a layer of noodles and more sauce; sprinkle on browned meat Mozzarella and gobs (about 1 tablespoon each) of cheese egg mixture. Make another layer. Bake at 350 degrees for 1/2 hour or until cheese is melted and starting to brown. This may be frozen and reheated. This goes often to pot lucks, but never comes home. |
