MOLASSES SUGAR COOKIES 
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
1/4 c. Brer Rabbit molasses
1 egg
2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream shortening and sugar together in large bowl, add molasses and egg; beat well. Sift together flour, soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and salt; add to first mixture and mix well. Cover and chill. Form in 1" balls, roll in granulated sugar and place on greased cookie sheet about 2" apart. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand 1 minute. Remove cookies to wire rack to cool.
