ICE BOX COOKIES 
1 lb. butter or substitute
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
5 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. cinnamon
3 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. hot water
1 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts

Cream shortening and sugar together; add eggs and beat. Add soda, water, flavorings and salt and beat again. Work in flour and walnuts. Mold batter into rolls and place them in refrigerator overnight. Slice thin and bake.
