MAMA'S CHRISTMAS CAKE 
1/2 c. Crisco
1/2 c. butter
3 c. sugar
5 eggs
3 c. flour (all purpose)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. rum flavoring
1 c. milk
1 c. black walnuts
1 c. freshly grated coconut
1/2 c. red candied cherries
1/2 c. green candied cherries

Cream Crisco and butter until fluffy. Add sugar and beat until light. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each. Add flour, flavorings and milk. fold in walnuts, coconut and cherries. Turn into greased tube pan lined in brown paper. Bake in preheated oven 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. Do not open oven door during first hour of baking. Wrap in foil and store in a few days to allow flavor to develop.
