MOM CERES' ITALIAN GRAVY AND
MEATBALLS
 
1 tbsp. oil
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 lg. can crushed tomatoes
1 lg. can tomato puree
1 sm. can tomato paste
1 lg. can water

Saute oil and crushed garlic for 1 minute. Then add tomatoes, puree and paste to pot. Then add water and simmer for 2 hours on low.

MEATBALLS:

1 lb. chopped chuck
1 egg
1 c. Italian flavored Italian bread crumbs

Mix chuck, egg and bread crumbs in a bowl. Mix thoroughly and shape into balls (1 inch diameter). Simmer in gravy for 45 minutes.

1 lb. beef would be enough for 3-4 people. but that depends on how much pasta goes with it.

Am thinking this would be a really good Crock-pot recipe. Simmer the sauce for a while on its on - to incorporate all flavors - then add meatballs, say last 3-4 hours.
