GREG'S BAKED BEANS | |
1 lb. quality hot bulk sausage 2 (28 oz. ea.) cans Bush's baked beans (I use fat-free) 1 large red onion 1 tbsp. garlic powder 1 tbsp. Kosher salt 1/2 tsp. pepper 1/2 cup ketchup (Hunts) 2 tbsp. prepared mustard 2 tbsp. Heinz 57 sauce 1 pkg. Oscar Meyer real bacon pieces (save for last) Preheat oven to 400°F. Brown and crumble sausage; remove to 4-quart casserole dish lined with paper towels to remove excess grease. Meanwhile sauté onion in the pan in which the sausage was browned, stirring to removed cooked bits of sausage. Add garlic powder, salt and pepper while cooking the onion until translucent. Remove paper towels, add the onions to the sausage with the beans and remaining ingredients. Stir well to incorporate ingredients. Bake uncovered at 400°F for 30 minutes. Cover, reduce heat to 350°F and bake for one hour with bacon pieces sprinkled over the top. Submitted by: Greg Spigner |
