MILE HIGH BISCUITS 
3 c. flour
4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
3/4 tsp. salt
2 1/2 tbsp. sugar
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. milk
1 egg, slightly beaten

Sift dry ingredients. Cut in shortening until crumbly; add egg and milk, mixing with fork until dough clings together. Knead lightly on floured board. Roll to 1" thick. Cut with biscuit cutter. Place on baking sheet. Bake at 450 degrees for 12 minutes.
