PERFECT BROWNIES | |
This was a recipe used in my home economics class in about 1960. Very good! 2 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate 1/2 c. butter or shortening (I use butter) 1 c. sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 3/4 c. sifted enriched flour 1/3 to 1/2 c. chopped walnuts or pecans 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. baking powder Melt chocolate and butter together over hot water or in microwave watching carefully. Cool. Mix flour with baking powder and salt. Beat eggs until light adding sugar and chocolate mixture and mix well. Add flour, vanilla and nuts. Mix well. Pour into greased 8x8x2 inch square pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool and cut into squares. Makes 16 brownies. |
