APPLESAUCE DOUGHNUTS | |
1 c. sugar 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cinnamon 5 tsp. baking powder 1 c. applesauce 1/4 c. Crisco 3 eggs 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. mace 1/2 c. buttermilk 5 c. flour Mix all ingredients well and place in a sealed container and chill overnight. (Dough will keep up to 3 weeks in refrigerator in a sealed container.) Only take out what you want to use. Roll to about 1/4 inch thickness on a floured surface. Cut with donut cutter. Then deep fry in oil, turn once after floating on top. Fry until golden brown. If you want you can ice the donuts with a powder sugar and cream mixture, mix it to a medium thickness. Should ice while still warm. |
