FRENCH TOAST CASSEROLE 
1 (16 oz.) loaf French bread
6 lg. eggs
1 c. half and half
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
1 tsp. corn syrup

Cut bread in 1 inch slices, but not all the way through, accordion style. Stand bread in greased 2 quart baking dish in medium bowl, mix next 5 ingredients. Pour over bread and refrigerate, covered overnight. In the morning, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine butter, brown sugar, nuts, and corn syrup. Spread evenly over standing bread slices. Bake 40 minutes or until brown and puffy. Serves 6-8 people.
