APPLE PUDDING CAKE AND SAUCE 
1 c. sugar
1 egg, well beaten
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1/4 c. butter
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
3 med. size apples

Cream sugar and butter; add well beaten egg. Sift flour, salt, soda, cinnamon and nutmeg together. Add chopped nuts to flour mixture. Peel the apples and shred, making 2 cups. Add apples alternately with flour to creamed mixture.

Bake 45 to 50 minutes (35 to 40 minutes) depending on your oven at 350 degrees. Serve with following sauce and whipped cream.

SAUCE:

1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. cream

Combine ingredients and stir over low heat until thick. A pinch of soda makes it thicker. Serve warm.
