FRESH APPLE CAKE 
Peel and slice 4 cups apples. Add 2 cups sugar and let stand 2 hours, stirring often.

Beat 2 eggs, add 3/4 cup cooking oil, 1 teaspoon vanilla and pour over apples. Mix 2 cups flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons soda, 1 teaspoon salt, 2 teaspoons cinnamon and 3/4 cup chopped nuts. Bake in moderate oven.

SAUCE OR GLAZE:

1 egg, beaten
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. white sugar
1/4 c. orange juice

Cook slowly, cool and spread on cake.
