FRESH APPLE BUTTER CAKE 
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
3 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. peeled, chopped apples
2 c. chopped walnuts

Oven temperature, 325 degrees; bake 1 1/2 hours. Beat butter and sugar, add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually add sifted flour, soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Stir in vanilla. Fold in chopped apples and walnuts. Pour in greased and floured tube pan. Bake 1 1/2 hours.

SHERRY GLAZE:

Put 1 1/2 cups sugar and 1/2 cup Sherry in a saucepan; stir. Cook, stirring constantly, until syrupy, about 2 minutes. Pour over cake.
