SHREDDED WHEAT PASTRY 
3 c. sugar
1 3/4 c. water
2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
1 lb. sweet butter, melted
1 1/2 lbs. Shredded Wheat crumbs
3 c. finely chopped walnuts
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg

Combine sugar, water and lemon juice in saucepan. Bring to boil, simmer, uncovered 15 minutes. Cool at room temperature. Butter a 9"x13"x2" baking pan. Spread half of Shredded Wheat in bottom of pan. Drizzle half of butter over it. Mix walnuts and spices and sprinkle over buttered wheat layer. Spread remaining Shredded Wheat over nuts. Drizzle with remaining butter.

Bake in 350 degree oven for 45 minutes. Remove from oven, pour syrup, honey or maple syrup over hot pastry. When cool, cut into diamonds. May cut in half.
