GRANDMA'S POPCORN BALLS 
2 qts. popped popcorn, unsalted
1 c. sugar
1 c. molasses
1 tsp. vinegar
3 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Put sugar, molasses and vinegar into heavy pan. Heat, while stirring constantly, over moderate heat until sugar dissolves. Cook until mixture reaches 260 degrees or hard ball stage (a drop of mixture in cold water becomes a hard ball). Remove from heat; add butter and vanilla, stirring to mix well. Pour syrup over popcorn in large bowl. Stir to coat evenly. Butter hands; form popcorn into balls. Wrap in waxed paper.
