GINGERBREAD | |
This recipe needs no chilling and can be worked like play dough - great fun to eat! 1/4 c. butter 1/2 c. white or brown sugar 1/2 c. molasses 3 1/2 c. flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. clove 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. ginger 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. water Cream butter and sugar. Beat in molasses. Stir together flour and spices. Then alternate 1/3 of flour mixture with part of water, mixing into the butter mixture. If dough is sticky add more flour (this can vary due to weather). Dough should be stiff. Now comes the fun! Work with hands into shapes. Use a cookie sheet or aluminum foil as your work surface and create right on the baking surface. Bake at 350 degrees - time depends on thickness of your work. |
