3/4 c. butter flavor Crisco
1 c. peanut butter
1 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. water
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. Quaker oats
1 1/2 c. all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
Granulated sugar

Beat first 3 ingredients until creamy. Beat in water, egg and vanilla. Add combined dry ingredients; mix well. Cover; chill about 2 hours. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Shape into 1 inch balls. Place in ungreased cookie sheet; flatten with tines of fork dipped in granulated sugar to form criss cross pattern. Bake 9-11 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet; remove to wire rack. makes about 7 dozen cookies.
