CHOCOLATE ORANGE BLOSSOMS
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 c. unsweetened cocoa
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. softened butter
1 tbsp. grated orange peel
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
Sugar
48 Hershey's milk chocolate kisses

In a large bowl, beat sugar, brown sugar, cocoa, shortening and butter until light and fluffy. Add orange peel, egg, and vanilla; blend well. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt. Cover with plastic wrap; refrigerate 1 hour. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Shape dough into 1 inch balls; roll in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake in a preheated 375°F oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until set. Immediately top each cookie with a chocolate kiss, pressing down firmly so cookie cracks around edges. Remove from cookie sheets.

Makes 4 dozen cookies.
