GRANDMA BECKER'S CORNED BEEF
HASH

6 slices bacon
1 can corned beef
8 sm.-med. potatoes
1 med.-sized onion, diced
Salt and pepper to taste

Fry bacon and set aside to harden. Slice peeled potatoes into drippings in frying pan (we always used an iron skillet). When they are almost done, add corned beef and onion.

Cut down into hash frequently and turn with a metal spatula. Cover and simmer five minutes. Add crumbled bacon. Leave uncovered until a crust forms on the bottom, adding salt and pepper to your own taste.

Grandma Becker may I say that I think your the only person that knows what corned beef hash is and means. Thank you so much for the recipe. All others say to buy a CAN of HASH and add that to the recipe fo make corned beef hash. NO!!! You need corned beef to start just like you say!!!!! I just couldn't remember if garlic was to be added or not.
Thanks again dear.

Bonnie Jordan is exactly right. I was looking for a hash recipe to use up a piece of corned beef left over from corned beef and cabbage and all I found were "add two cans of corned beef hash" Thanks to Grandma Becker I am in business.

Amazing! - two reviews reference the fact that a "can of corned beef" was not called for.....yet it is the second ingredient listed. This is really great... using the can as called for.

To the last reviewer, a can of Corned Beef IS NOT the same thing as a can of Corned Beef Hash. Grandma's recipe uses canned corned beef. It's only called hash when it has potatoes already in it.
