CAPE BRANDY TART 
1 c. dates
1 c. boiling water
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/4 c. flour
2 tbsp. butter
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. pecan nuts, chopped

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Sift dry ingredients. Cream butter and sugar; add egg. Add to dry ingredients. Pour boiling water over dates and baking soda; mix. When dates have softened, add to above ingredients. Add pecan nuts last. Pour into greased pie dish and bake for 20 minutes.

SAUCE:

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. brandy
1 tbsp. butter
3/4 c. water
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Boil water and sugar for 5 minutes. Add vanilla extract, butter, and brandy and pour over tart while it's still hot. Serve with whipped cream or Cool Whip.
