SOUR CREAM APPLE SQUARES 
2 c. flour
2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. baking soda
1 to 2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sour cream or plain yogurt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 c. finely chopped apples

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine first 3 ingredients in large bowl; blend at low speed until crumbly. Stir in nuts. Press 2 3/4 cups crumb mixture firmly into ungreased 9 x 13 inch or 15 x 10 inch pan. To remaining crumbs, add remaining ingredients, except apples; blend well. Stir in apples. Spoon batter evenly over crumb base.

Bake 30 to 40 minutes if using a 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake 25 to 35 minutes if using a 15 x 10 inch pan. Cool; cut into squares or bars. Store, loosely covered.
