WATER CHESTNUT HORS D'OEUVRES 
1 can whole water chestnuts, drained
1/4 c. soy sauce
2 tbsp. sugar
Several slices bacon

Cut water chestnuts in half if they are large; let stand in soy sauce for about 30 minutes, turning frequently. Roll each in sugar. Cut bacon strips into 4 equal pieces (lengthwise then crosswise). Wrap each chestnut with bacon; anchor with toothpick. Bake about 20 minutes at 400 degrees in shallow pan. Drain on paper towel and serve hot.
