APPLE STREUSEL LADDER LOAF
1 loaf frozen bread, thawed
2 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. finely chopped peeled apples
2 tbsp. flour
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. slivered almonds (optional)

Divide bread dough in half. Roll each half into 8-inch square (for easier rolling, let rise a few minutes). Spread each square with 1 tablespoon butter.

FILLING: Combine brown sugar, 1 tablespoon flour, cinnamon and add apples. Toss to coat.

Spread 1/2 of filling down center of each square. Cutting from right edge toward filling, make 2 1/2-inch-long cuts in dough at 1-inch intervals. Repeat from left edge. Fold strips alternately over filling; fold under ends. Place loaves on greased 15x10x1 pan. Brush with milk.

Combine 2 tablespoons flour and sugar. Cut in 1 tablespoon butter until resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle 1/2 of crumb mixture over loaves. Let rise until nearly double (45-60 minutes). Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Serve warm. Healthy.
