GRAM'S BANANA CAKE | |
3/4 c. Crisco 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. baking soda 1 1/2 c. sugar 2 eggs 1 c. mashed ripe bananas 2 1/2 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 3/4 c. sour milk or buttermilk 3 tsp. cold water Mix together Crisco, salt, vanilla, and baking soda. Add sugar. Cream until light. Add eggs and bananas. Add flour and baking powder alternately with sour milk or buttermilk. Lastly, add cold water. Bake in 2 layers at 375 degrees for 25-35 minutes. Be sure it is done. BANANA FROSTING: 1/4 c. butter 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. vanilla 3 c. confectioners' sugar 1/3 c. mashed banana 1-2 drops yellow food color Mix butter, salt, vanilla and half the sugar. Alternately add banana and rest of sugar. Mix until fluffy. Can use 1/4 cup milk as substitute for banana. |
