BANANA NUT CAKE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
Dash of salt
6 tbsp. buttermilk
3 mashed bananas
1 c. chopped pecans
1 tbsp. vanilla

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, one at a time and beat. Sift flour, soda and salt. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture. Add mashed bananas, nuts and vanilla; mix. Pour into two 9 inch greased cake pans. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes.

FROSTING:

1 (1 lb.) box powdered sugar
1/4 lb. butter
1 ripe banana, mashed
1 tbsp. heavy cream
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped pecans

Mix in order given and spread on cooled cake.
