BANANA NUT CAKE 
2/3 c. sugar
1/2 c. soft shortening
2 eggs
3 tbsp. buttermilk
1 c. mashed bananas
2 c. sifted self rising flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch loaf pan. Mix together thoroughly sugar, shortening and eggs. Stir in milk, mashed bananas, and flour. Stir in soda and fold in chopped nuts. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 50-60 minutes. Cool in pan for 10 minutes. Remove and let cool completely.
